- Hey guys! Welcome to my first writing video where I am introducing my current writing project, a gothic fantasy novel. Hopefully I will be wrapping up draft 2.5 soon so I can pass it off to beta readers for their feedback. At the moment, my routine has involved getting up at 6am each morning for a few hours of productive, undisturbed writing. Thanks for watching!

Finally I found someone who feels that they'd get distracted by making all those writing journals and lists. Like they are gorgeous and I kinda want to make one too but I know I'll spend all the time on that instead of getting any actual writing done.
haha yes, exactly. I am so tempted to do it but I know I'd need to compartmentalise and make that a totally separate hobby 😅
I LOVED Rebecca and im currently re-reading and annotating Frankenstein. Im proud of you for writing your own novel. Hope continues to go well for you!
Thanks so much! 🥰
This was so cozy and motivating! I am trying to get back to writing and I found your channel
awe thank you, I'm so glad you enjoyed it 🥰 Thanks for stopping by!
I underwrite in the first draft too. I also write historical gothic stories. Hello, from New Hampshire! :)
That's so interesting! I can't wait to check out your videos, it's neat to hear from someone who writes a similar genre! Thanks for stopping by 🥰
i like this because im writing a gothic dark fantasy
That's brilliant, good luck!
@@StephMorgan_ ty! 🩷
The vibes are immaculate ✨
🥰
Super cosy video 😊 loved to hear how you write and edit your novel
Thank you!! 😊
Absolutely loved how cozy this video felt! I'm glad I found your channel 😊
Also I'm always amazed when people say they don't like revising, revisions are so much fun? Like you've already done all the hard work and now you get to make things better? 😍
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Haha, I usually feel the same way. Sometimes there's a bit of a grass is greener element to it too, where I feel like whatever the stage Im presently in is the most difficult lol. There is something so comforting about revisions though! Thanks for stopping by! 🥰
This is so cozy and nice to watch 😊 Good luck with editing!
Thank you! :)
I'm also a major underwriter who focuses on dialogue😂 such a cozy vlog
Glad I'm not the only one, haha. Thanks for watching! 🥰 I'll have to check out your channel too!
This was so beautiful & cozy, I clicked on because I was curious and then hooked the whole way through!
Thank you for sharing your “process”, I’m also rewriting my entire 2nd draft at the moment and feeling a bit lost with it but this has inspired me✨
I’m also changing my story’s perspective which means keeping more or less the same outline but fleshing it out a lot! I write a few hours in the morning and have been going between my old and new draft, working on one section at a time.. I find it very hard to track real progress with editing but someone suggested setting page goals which has helped a lot! At least then I feel like I’m moving forwards😅
I wish you all the best and loved this vlog, keep it up!😊🫶🏻
Thank you for the encouragement!
Yes, it can be so overwhelming and easy to question yourself, but it's so worth pushing through those moments (or days, lol). I love hearing about your process! It sounds similar to mine. I tend to keep track with scenes, often one or two a day depending on the complexity of editing.
Changing a POV is a bloody pain but when when it clicks, it's magic ✨
good luck on your project as well! Thank you for watching 💚☺
Loved hearing about your writing and revising process! I can't wait to be done with my degree so I can get back to creative writing. Academic writing is a very different beast, and my writing process is just...not good haha.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! haha, I can empathise. It's a completely different type of writing, but I do feel like the experience of writing my thesis helped me develop some transferrable skills. I just kept telling myself "a finished thesis is a good thesis" and now that's my mantra for first drafts for my creative work as well 😅
@@StephMorgan_ Definitely a good mantra to have! And I agree about the transferrable skills.
I remember revising a novel that was 125k and it ended up being 282k. I was like . . . "ohh rats . . . that's now gonna cost me like $5k to get it edited . . . lol :)
oooh man 🥲
your voice can only be heard (EDIT: only in the voiceover, apparently!) in the left ear on my earbuds. is that supposed to be that way? :/
Thank you for letting me know! It's likely a weird setting that I didn't catch in post-production. I'm actually deaf in my right ear so I wouldn't have noticed if someone didn't tell me 😂 Thanks for watching anyway!
